Wisconsin has very strict gun laws. It is one of only two states (Illinois is the other) that pursuant to statute completely prohibits anyone from carrying a concealed weapon. Recent case law, however, has brought into question whether Wisconsin's statutory law illegally infringes upon an individual's 2nd Amendment right to bear arms.
Open carry of a weapon has received strong support from case law, again citing an individual's 2nd Amendment constitutional rights but there is no question that under statutory or case law a firearm may not be possessed or carried by a person convicted of the crime of domestic violence, a convicted felon, a person under a domestic violence restraining order, a person under some harassment restraining orders, or an unsupervised minor.
